Mission Statement

C.A.T.S. helps children with physical and developmental disabilities that affect movement, behavior, or communication have better health outcomes; participate more fully in school; engage socially; and achieve greater independence.  We do this by refurbishing and redistributing donated assistive technology; educating pediatric clinicians, teachers, and caregivers; and advocating for responsive and responsible public health policy.

Guiding Principles

  • Children with disabilities are, first and foremost, children – children with the same needs, rights, and dreams as all children.

  • Children should have access to all services and supports needed for optimal health and well-being.

  • Children and families shall receive services which are sensitive and responsive to cultural differences and special needs, and are provided without regard to race, religion, national origin, sex, physical disability, or other characteristics.

  • Services and supports shall be provided to all children regardless of financial status. Parents and caregivers shall not face undue financial hardship.

  • Services should be responsive, accessible, and financially sustainable.

  • Children and families come to C.A.T.S. seeking help with deeply personal needs which affect their adjustment and satisfaction in life.  They trust in our knowledge, expertise, and compassion.  We are honored to be entrusted with the task of helping children and their families.  We must be worthy of that trust, approach our task with reverence, and treat them with honesty, sensitivity, dignity, and respect.

  • C.A.T.S. is dependent on our customers—the children, parents, caregivers, referral sources, supporters, and communities we serve for our continued existence—tomorrow, next month, and next year.  Our customers are the purpose of our work.  We are not doing them a favor by serving them; they are honoring us by allowing us to help them.
