Mission Statement
Our mission is to give those who come to ONE Forest School, in Deerhead Nature Preserve, an Organic Nature Experience by providing authentic learning opportunities to engage in nature, in a meaningful, lasting and holistic manner. We strive to instill a positive regard for nature and responsible stewardship. We foster a sense of community and a shared learning experience. Our traditional forest school programs build resilient, confident, and independent learners.
A message from ONE Forest School
We are a nonprofit holistic educational development center dedicated towards offering unique opportunities for learning and to encourage and inspire children and adults through positive and authentic outdoor experiences. We have successfully created and implemented programs that help educate, challenge, heal, and entertain people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities. No other local nonprofit organization targets such a wide array of our community in a time when our society needs it the most.
Overview of Services
We teach emotional intelligence to children and adults by connecting them to nature through play-based exercises utilizing our accredited forest school model; we offer a private school education for pre-school through the 8th grade with an award winning, project-based STREAM curriculum; we offer an ACA accredited, 10-week summer camp program; we offer Virginia's first outdoor escape room (Escape the Forest Adventures) open to all but mostly used by local companies seeking team-building exercises for employees; An After School Enrichment Program for working families or for children who need extra tutoring, with our licensed teachers.
