Equipping Children for Access and Opportunity!

Every child deserves the chance to move, communicate, learn, and belong.

Children’s Assistive Technology Service (C.A.T.S.) gives new life to pediatric rehabilitation equipment and assistive technology devices—placing them directly into the hands of Virginia children with disabilities at zero cost to their families. When insurance delays, denials, or financial hardship create barriers, children cannot afford to wait. That’s where C.A.T.S. steps in.

Through properly fitted adaptive mobility and communication equipment, children are able to:

  • Sit safely and participate at the dinner table

  • Engage fully in school and therapy

  • Play alongside siblings and classmates

  • Communicate their needs and ideas

  • Optimize health by supporting bone and muscle development as well as all other systems

This isn’t just equipment. It’s access. It’s dignity. It’s opportunity.

2025 Impact

In 2025, C.A.T.S. served 908 children, providing 1,083 pieces of adaptive equipment with a total estimated value of $2,216,993 placed directly into homes, schools, and therapy settings across Virginia.

Each number represents a real child who no longer has to wait months for critical equipment. A family who no longer faces impossible financial decisions. A classroom where inclusion becomes possible.

Why Your Support Matters Now

All funds raised through SML Gives Day will go directly to the C.A.T.S. Endowment Fund, ensuring children have access to essential equipment not just today—but for years to come.

While annual donations allow us to meet immediate needs, a strong endowment provides sustainable, reliable funding that protects our mission from economic uncertainty and allows us to continue expanding our reach.

When you invest in the C.A.T.S. Endowment Fund, you are not simply supporting a nonprofit. You are securing independence, mobility, communication, and inclusion for children across Virginia—today and into the future.

Thank you for helping us create a more inclusive world where every child has the tools they need to thrive.
