Friends of Ferrum Park Inc

Friends of Ferrum Park is a local nonprofit dedicated to protecting and stewarding Ferrum Park as a community-owned, inclusive outdoor space for people of all ages and abilities. We sustain the park entirely through community support and volunteer effort, without ongoing tax dollars or municipal funding.

Ferrum Park creates opportunities for connection, access, and joy through free and low-cost community events. Signature programs like our annual Trick-or-Treat Trail, our seasonal Farm & Craft Market, and our new annual event, Franklin County Touch-a-Truck provide safe and welcoming ways for families to make memories, for local vendors to thrive, and for neighbors to connect, especially in an area where affordable recreational options close to home can be limited. These events help keep the park thriving while building the kind of community we’re proud to be part of.

We are also deeply committed to protecting the local environment and preserving native habitats. Through thoughtful land stewardship and long-term care, we work to safeguard wildlife and the natural beauty of the land for future generations.

Accessibility and inclusion are central to how we design the park and how our programs are run. We are committed to removing barriers to participation and creating spaces where people of all abilities and backgrounds feel welcome, respected, and safe. From how we plan events to how we care for the land itself, equity and access are not add-ons: they are the core foundation of our work.
