Smith Mountain Lake Lions Charitable Corporation

The Smith Mountain Lake Lions Club Charitable Corporation is the monetary giving extension of the SML Lions Club. The members of out club provide a great deal of service to our Lake Communities by giving of their time. But the fundraising we do gives us the opportunity to provide financial support to the needs of our communities. 

A key way to support almost any community is by providing local high school graduates with continuing education opportunities. Nearly every community in America today is in need of new skilled labor in the trades. Every discipline from auto mechanics to welders is in need of newly trained people to fulfill the openings that exist in all of those fields.  But in many places, supporting the financial needs of continuing education in skilled trades is overlooked. The SML Lions Club Charitable Corporation is focused on this need and annually provides scholarships for local students graduating high school that want to continue the vocational training they completed in high school to advance into a skilled trades area of their choice at any of the Virginia Community College programs available. 

Additionally, the Charitable Corporation often supports the financial needs of other local charitable organizations. In recent years we have provided support to the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in Franklin County Virginia, Helping Hands of Franklin County, the Henry Fork Service Center, Lake Christian Ministries, SML Good Neighbors, and Stepping Stone Mission in Rocky Mount, Virginia. This list is not all encompassing, and the Charitable Corporation is always willing to consider requests for needs within on Smith Mountain Lake communities.
